Terms of Use
These Terms of Use apply to CityOasis, an independent project based in Switzerland. CityOasis helps people find places and community-provided information about amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, power outlets, toilets, wheelchair access, and parking.
1. Using CityOasis
When CityOasis is first set up, you are asked to choose an app language, accept the current Terms of Use, and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. CityOasis uses a guest account by default. Connecting a recoverable account such as Google is optional for most features and is intended to support backup, sync, and recovery of CityOasis data.
CityOasis is not designed for children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use CityOasis.
2. Contributions
CityOasis may let you privately suggest a missing place or submit amenity information. Place Suggestions are sent to CityOasis for review and are not published directly by the submitting account. CityOasis may reject a suggestion, match it to an existing place, or use it to create a CityOasis-managed public Community Place. Before your first community contribution, you must accept the current Community Guidelines. CityOasis may require renewed contribution acceptance after a material change to those Guidelines.
Guest users can submit Place Suggestions and contribute amenity information. Connecting a Google account is optional and helps you recover and sync your CityOasis data. A Place Suggestion remains private while CityOasis reviews it; submitting one does not directly publish a place.
Contribute only information that you reasonably believe is accurate. If you are unsure about an amenity, use the available “Not sure” option rather than guessing.
3. Public content and privacy
A Place Suggestion is private while under review. If CityOasis approves it, the suggested place name, location, and other appropriate place information may be used in a public CityOasis-managed listing. The submitting account is not presented as the public creator of that listing. Do not include personal information in a Place Suggestion or other contribution.
4. Prohibited content and behaviour
Do not submit or use CityOasis to distribute:
- false, fabricated, or deliberately misleading place information;
- duplicate places or inappropriate temporary events;
- advertising, promotional spam, or other irrelevant promotional content;
- discriminatory, threatening, abusive, offensive, or sexually inappropriate names or content;
- personal information that should not be public; or
- content that otherwise violates the Community Guidelines.
5. Your rights and CityOasis permission to use contributions
You keep the rights you have in content you contribute. By contributing or submitting a Place Suggestion, you give CityOasis a non-exclusive permission to store, review, verify, modify, translate, combine, deduplicate, display where appropriate, hide, remove, and otherwise use that contribution as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, and present CityOasis across CityOasis applications, websites, and related services.
6. Moderation
CityOasis may review Place Suggestions and reports and may reject, match, correct, hide, merge, or remove Community Places or other contributed information. CityOasis may also restrict contribution features for accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
Reporting a place does not directly edit or delete it. Reports are reviewed by CityOasis before moderation action is taken.
7. Information may be incomplete or outdated
- An air conditioner may exist but not be operating.
- Opening hours, closures, and amenity information may be outdated.
- Wheelchair-access information should be verified when accessibility is important to your visit.
- OpenStreetMap information and CityOasis community information may differ.
Do not rely on CityOasis alone for safety, health, accessibility, or mobility decisions.
8. Places listed in CityOasis
Unless a place is explicitly marked as an official, verified, sponsored, or partner listing, its appearance in CityOasis does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or recommendation by that place or by CityOasis.
9. Changes to these Terms
CityOasis may update these Terms. Minor editorial or translation changes may not require renewed acceptance. If a change materially affects the terms of using CityOasis, data practices, user rights, or other important conditions, CityOasis may require you to accept the updated Terms before continued use. Material changes to the Community Guidelines may instead require renewed contribution acceptance before your next contribution.
10. Language
The English version is the authoritative version. The French version is an official translation provided for convenience. If the two versions differ, the English version takes precedence.
