Community Guidelines
CityOasis works best when contributions are useful, respectful, and easy for other people to verify. These guidelines apply when you suggest a place or contribute amenity information.
1. Suggest real, publicly relevant places
- Suggest places that genuinely exist.
- Do not suggest private homes or non-public facilities.
- Avoid duplicate places.
- Do not suggest inappropriate temporary events as permanent places.
2. Account requirements for Place Suggestions
Guest users can submit Place Suggestions and vote on amenities. Connecting a Google account is optional and helps you recover and sync your CityOasis data. Suggestions remain private during review and are not published directly by the submitting account.
3. Keep Place Suggestions free of personal information
Do not include a person’s name, phone number, email address, unnecessary address information, or other personal information. CityOasis may reject, correct, or omit inappropriate information before publishing or matching a place.
4. Contribute what you reasonably know
When answering amenity questions, use your recent observation or other reasonable knowledge of the place. If you are unsure, choose “Not sure” rather than guessing. Do not deliberately submit false or misleading information.
5. No spam, promotion, or abuse
Do not submit advertising, promotional spam, discriminatory or threatening material, abusive or offensive wording, sexually inappropriate content, or other content intended to mislead or disrupt the community.
6. Report problems instead of directly changing a reported place
If a place is incorrect, duplicated, inappropriate, or outdated, use the in-app report function. A report is sent to CityOasis for review; it does not directly edit or delete the place.
7. Hide places you do not want to see
You can hide an individual OSM Shop or Community Place from your own CityOasis view. Hiding affects only your account and does not remove the place for other users.
8. Moderation
CityOasis may review or reject Place Suggestions and may correct, merge, hide, or remove contributed content that is inaccurate, duplicated, inappropriate, privacy-invasive, or otherwise inconsistent with these guidelines. Contribution features may also be restricted for accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate the rules.
Past contributions are not automatically removed only because an account is restricted; individual places may be reviewed on their own merits.
9. Accuracy and real-world conditions
Amenity information can change. An amenity may exist but be unavailable or not operating. When a detail is important for health, safety, accessibility, or mobility, verify it with the place or another reliable source.
10. Relationship to the Terms of Use
These Community Guidelines supplement the Terms of Use. The Terms are accepted separately when CityOasis is first set up or when a material Terms update requires renewed acceptance. The Community Guidelines are accepted before your first community contribution and may require renewed acceptance after a material Guidelines update.
11. Language
The English version is the authoritative version. The French version is an official translation. If the two versions differ, the English version takes precedence.
